Respecting Teachers

Aristotle once said:

“Those who educate children well are more to be honored than they who produce them; for these only gave them life, those the art of living well.”

Once In the public court of Germany  a person who was charged with wrong parking was brought for the trails. The magistrate asked the person why did he park at the wrong place? .The person replied “I am a teacher and I was getting late for my class and didn’t get the right spot so by mistake I parked the car at the wrong place.” After hearing the man’s response, the magistrate and whole of the court stand up from their benches and magistrate  apologized for the inconvenience caused and dismissed the case. He ordered the local government to pay the fine on behalf of the teacher.

This small lessons teaches us the nations who are respectable in the world, respects their teachers.

This is the reason why they are far ahead of us. Those nations who do not respect their teachers have a dark future.

It’s not About the Head Count, it’s about Heart Count

Modern days businesses are been hit by a lot of financial tornados but the companies who survive in these hard times are the ones who cares for their employees especially those companies where employees come close to each other to save the company.
Bob Chatman who runs a huge manufacturing company in Midwest- USA called Barry Way Miller, in 2008 was hit very hard by the recession and they lost 30% of their orders overnight, as a large manufacturing company it was a big deal and they could no longer afford to manage their labor pool. To save the company from bankruptcy they needed to save 10 million dollars, so as the large manufacturing company board of directors comes together and discussed layoffs. At this moment Bob took a memorial decision and he refused to approve the firing documents of the staff. Bob didn’t believe on head counts he believed on heart counts and it’s much more difficult to simply reduce the heart counts. The board get together and announces the program that each and every employee of the company from secretary to CEO have to take 4 weeks of unpaid vacation they can take it any time and they cannot take it consecutively, but the most important is how Bobs decree the program that matter so much he said “Its better we should all suffer a little then any of us have to suffer allot”. After this announcement, the moral of the company went up and as the total they saved 20M dollars.
Most importantly as expected when people feel safe and protected by the leadership in the organization the natural reaction is the trust and cooperation and without any expectations peoples in the company started trading holidays with each other. Those who could afford it more they took vacation more from others than those who could afford less. Some people took 5 weeks so that their colleagues who are not financially good have to take only 3.

To recapitulate I must say leadership is a choice it’s not a rank, I know many peoples at the lowest most level in the organization who have no powers but still they are absolute leaders as they have chosen to look after the peoples in their surrounds, however, there are some peoples at the top of the organization who have clout but not the leadership, they are authorities and we do what they say because they have the authority over us but we would not follow them. Remember one thing you  cannot judge the quality of the crew when the sea is calm.

Redefining Perfection

Redefining Perfection

The American Computer Giant IBM decided to have some parts manufactured in Japan on a trial basis. In the contract, while writing specifications, they had set the standard that they will accept only three defective pieces per 10,000 pieces. Otherwise, the whole consignment of 10000 parts would be rejected.

When the first consignment came from Japan to IBM there was a letter accompanying it.

"We,
Japanese people had a hard time in understanding American business practices.
However, the three defective parts per 10,000 pieces have been separately manufactured at our end to meet the specifications of the contract.
Those three have been included in the consignment in a separate package mentioning --
*'Defective pieces as required; not for use.'*
Hope this meets your requirement."

*In some workplaces Perfection is a Habit, not an Attitude!!* 😀

How To Win Friends And Influence People

Here are the 10 best, classic lessons we learn from Carnegie's

How To Win Friends And Influence People:

1. Do Not Criticize, Condemn or Complain
Carnegie writes, "Any fool can criticize, condemn or complain- and most fools do." He continues on to say that it takes character and self-control to be forgiving, this discipline will pay major dividends in your relationships with people.
2. Be Generous With Praise
Carnegie uses Schwab as an example throughout the book, as someone who exemplifies all of the tenets Carnegie preaches. Schwab used praise as the foundation of all of his relationships, "In my wide association in life, meeting with many and great people in various parts of the world," Schwab declared, "I have yet to find the person, however great or exalted in their station who did not do better work and put forth greater effort under a spirit of approval than they would ever do under a spirit of criticism."
3. Remember Their Name
Remembering people's names when you meet them is difficult. You casually meet a lot of people so it's challenging, but if you can train yourself to remember people's names, it makes them feel special and important. Carnegie writes, "Remember that a person's name is to that person the sweetest and most important sound in any language."
4. Be Genuinely Interested In Other People
Remembering a person's name, asking them questions that encourage them to talk about themselves so you discover their interests and passions are what make people believe you like them, so they in turn like you. Carnegie writes, "You make more friends in two months by becoming genuinely interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you." If you break it down, you should listen 75% and only speak 25% of the time.
5. Know The Value Of Charm
One things people do not discuss much in the job search industry is that so much of getting an opportunity is not about talent, where you went to college or who you know, it is people liking you. A good resume may get you in the door, but charm, social skills and talent keep you there, and people will normally pick someone they enjoy being around over a candidate they don't enjoy being around as much but is more talented. Become someone people want to talk to, be genuinely interested in other people, because it will enrich your life and open so many more doors than you ever thought possible.
6. Be Quick To Acknowledge Your Own Mistakes
Nothing will make people less defensive and more agreeable than you being humble and reasonable enough to admit your own mistakes. Having strong and stable personal and professional relationships relies on you taking responsibility for your actions, especially your mistakes. Nothing will help end tension or a disagreement more than a swift acknowledgment and apology on your part.
7. Don't Attempt To "Win" An Argument
The best way to win any argument, Carnegie writes, is to avoid it.Even if you completely dismantle someone's argument with objective facts, you won't be any closer to reaching an agreement than if you made personal arguments. Carnegie cited an old saying: "A man convinced against his will/Is of the same opinion still."
8. Begin On Common Ground
If you are having a disagreement with someone, you start on common ground and ease your way into the difficult subjects. If you begin on polarizing ground, you'll never be able to recover, and may lose ground with subjects on which you agree.
9. Have Others Believe Your Conclusion Is Their Own
People can not be forced to believe anything, and persuasive people understand the power of suggestion over demand. Learn to plant the seed, and instead of telling people they're wrong, find the common ground and persuade them that what they really want is your desired outcome (obviously without telling them that is the case).
10. Make People Feel Important
Smiling, knowing people's names, praising people, making an effort to know their interests and chat about them make people feel important. That is the underlying point of all of the above principles. If you make people feel important, how you walk through the world will be an exponentially more pleasant and incredible experience.

We all Deserve Styrofoam Cup

There was a former undersecretary of defense of United States; he was invited to a conference to give the speech at a large conference about thousand peoples. He was standing at the stage with his prepared remarks and PowerPoint presentation holding his cup of coffee in the Styrofoam cup.
He took a sip of the coffee and looks down to the Styrofoam cup and smiled and went off script and said.
“Last year I spoke at the same conference and last year as I was still the undersecretary they flew me here business class, and when I arrived at the airport there was someone waiting for me at the airport, they took me to my hotel and they already checked me in and they just took me to my room. Next morning when I came downstairs there was someone waiting for me in the lobby, they greet me and they drove me here to the same venue. They took me from the back entrance and took me to the green room and someone handed me a cup of coffee in the beautiful ceramic cup.”
He then said: “I am no longer the undersecretary I took the coach and flew here by economy class. I took a taxi to the hotel and checked myself in, there is no one waiting for me in the lobby today morning and I took another taxi and come to this venue. I came from the front door and found my way to backstage and asked someone do you have a coffee and someone pointed me at the coffee machine at the corner, I pour my coffee by myself in this Styrofoam cup.”
He said “The lesson is ceramic cup was never meant for me it was for the position I held. I deserve a Styrofoam cup”
Remember this as you gain fame, as you gain fortune, as you gain position and seniority
People will treat you better they will hold doors open for you, they will get you a cup of tea or coffee without you even asking, they will call you Sir and Mam and will give you stuff.
None of that stuff is meant for you, it is for the position you hold because of your cusses or the position but you will always deserve a Styrofoam cup.
Remember that lesson of gratitude you can take all the free stuff and parks absolutely you can enjoy them but just be grateful for them and know that they are not for you. You always deserve a Styrofoam cup.
